The App Store restriction, explained
Apple does not permit apps that ship with pre-loaded channel lists, so IPTV players on iOS arrive empty and you supply the playlist. That is why setup on an iPhone or iPad looks different from a Firestick: you are configuring a media player, not installing a service.
Some players charge a one-off unlock fee. That payment goes to the app developer, not your IPTV provider, and it does not replace the subscription.
AirPlay to a TV
Playing on the phone and mirroring to a TV works, but mirroring re-encodes the picture and adds latency — noticeable on live sport. Background playback
iOS suspends most players when you leave the app, which drops the stream rather than pausing it. Reconnecting is instant, but on a plan with one connection the server may take a minute to release the old session — which reads like a fault and is not one.
